Nicole Shanahan
Nicole Shanahan has it all - looks, poise, youth, and $billions. She may be quite smart too, but I can't see it. With all the good things she could do with her enormous wealth, she has chosen to invest it in Michael Kennedy's ultra long-shot run for president as his VP. Both will likely join the Spoilers club started by Ralph Nader in 2000, when his own long shot run cost Gore the presidency and the US international good will, thousands of lives and $trillions in treasure for the forever wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The spoilers of 2024 may well be remembered for siphoning off enough votes to cost Biden a second term, clearing a path for Trump's destruction of America's government and principals, and promoting the disproven science that has already led to the deaths of thousands.
It is ironic that a leftist zealot like Shanahan could kill the world's oldest democracy, allowing Trump to replace it with an unconstitutional autocratic kleptocracy, flood the Executive with dangerous or incompetent Trump-loyal wing-nuts, alienate our allies and comfort our enemies. It certainly is not her fault that the American system precludes more than two parties, that the electoral college already creates a huge advantage for "red" states, that SCOTUS has a distinct "conservative" bias, that the House has a small but critical GOP majority, that Trump is not bound by any moral tether. A perfect storm, but that is the truth, and her ticket cannot win, it can only spoil the vote.
Although the marketing of candidates seems to show that money alone determines who wins an election, other factors are considered by some. Joe Biden has the advantage of- general experience and specific accomplishments,. Donald Trump owns rebellion against hitherto accepted norms and bold promises undisturbed by realities or a thorough understanding of consequences. Shanahan has youth, looks and wealth, but would serve under the direction of her president, known best for unproven conspiracy theories. US VP is a rather thankless role for the winner, and may be career ending for the loser(s). But third-party spoilers are remembered as spoilers - full stop.
